- Gentle, gentle! Scrubbing doesn't clean your face better, it just makes it irritated and red. If you use a terry-cloth, one quick wipe is plenty to exfoliate and remove facial wash.
- Stay away from products that contain alcohol or acidic chemicals. These ingredients may make for a nice texture or feel initially soothing, but they strip your skin of healthy oils and make sensitive skin irritated and red.
- Use lukewarm water to wet the skin before applying facial cleanser. This opens up the pores so unhealthy oils can be removed. Beware of hot water, though! This will instantly make your skin feel tight and dry.
- Use cold water to rinse. This closes your pores, keeping healthy skin oils in and dirty skin oils out.
- Always use plenty of moisturizer, even on oily skin types. You'll know you need it when your skin feels dry. If you have oily skin, moisturizing regularly will help balance your skin's oils out.
